Alternative Education Programs

College Station Schools 2Timber Academy
Timber Academy is an academic alternative education program serving as a drop out prevention/drop out recovery program designed to respond to individual needs of students. The program has been established to create an alternative route to graduation for students who have not been successful in the traditional setting. (Target level: grades 11 & 12 who are “at risk” of school failure but who are “at promise” for future success.) Students are expected to complete the appropriate 22 credits towards graduation along with TAKS (Texas Assessment of Knowledge & Skills) exit exams. Timber does not offer fine arts, foreign language nor physics or chemistry. Students who choose to receive the recommended diploma (24 credits) must acquire these from a separate institution. The American Preparatory Institute (API) curriculum and other resources are used for accelerated, individual study with teacher assistance.

Students use the API (American Preparatory Institute) self-paced curriculum, home campus teacher prepared assignments or a combination of both. Assignment lengths normally range from 20 to 40 successful days. Extenuating circumstances may result an adjustment in assignment length. Academics and socialization skills are emphasized. Parent/designee brings the student each morning for the check-in process. Transportation is provided in the afternoons. Successful components of this program include daily parent interaction with our staff and daily student evaluations.

College Station Private Schools

College Statin Private SchoolSt. Thomas Early Learning Center
As a Christian school, they worship and learn of God in Scripture and nature, as well as through their common humanity. Saint Thomas Early Learning Center does not rush children, rather they seek to make each year so rich and full that growth and progress are truly appropriate to the age and individual. In view of this, children are accepted into classes only if they reach the appropriate age by September 1st. Saint Thomas Early Learning Center stresses academic and social growth without threat of punishment. Saint Thomas Early Learning Center is accredited by the National Academy of Early Childhood Programs, and we are members of the National Association of Episcopal Schools.
